Quick Guides For...

Students

Career ChoicesLet's face it, choosing a career path is a big challenge.  It's hard to know what you will want to do with your life when you are only 16 and there are so many choices.   A job in Heath Care can offer a rewarding career that matches your skills and personality.

This web site is designed to give the information you need to decide if a health career is right for you, and if so which one.

Where should you start?  Try this...

  1. Browse through the profiles under Careers.  These will give you a good idea of what the job is like, what you can expect to earn, and where you can find more info.
  2. Write up a short list of which careers interest you.  Then, for each career on your list, check out what are the requirements for training.  For example, to become a  Dental Assistant you will be required to pass high school and pass Grade 12 biology.
  3. You can then check out the profiles of the schools in Nova Scotia that offer training in your careers of choice and visit their web sites for more info.
  4. It's always good to plan ahead so take some time to check out the employers who hire people on your career list (you'll find these under the Working section).  This will give you an idea of where you will work and what it will be like.  You can also search for what jobs are open right now from the employer page or career profile page.

Good luck!

Etudiants Acadiens
